How to Choose a Range Hood

CFM sizing, mount type, and ducted vs. ductless — grounded in RAPSUAR's actual lineup.

Match CFM to Your Stove, Not Just Your Kitchen Size

RAPSUAR's range hoods are rated at either 1200 or 1500 CFM (cubic feet per minute) — the real airflow figure that determines how quickly a hood clears smoke, steam, and grease. A common rule of thumb: for a standard gas or electric range, 1200 CFM comfortably handles typical home cooking, including frying and searing. If you cook at high heat often, use a commercial-style range, or have a larger, open-plan kitchen where smoke has more room to spread before reaching the hood, the 1500 CFM 48" models give more margin. Bigger isn't automatically better, though — an oversized hood over a small stove mostly means more noise and energy use for airflow you don't need.

Pick a Mount Type Based on Your Cabinet Layout

RAPSUAR's real lineup covers three mount types, and the right one depends on what's above your stove, not personal preference alone:

Ducted vs. Ductless — Check Before You Buy

A real customer review on the wall-mount flagship specifically describes choosing "the ducted way," which involved running duct work in addition to hanging the hood itself on two screws. Ducted installation vents air (and grease, and odors) outside the house entirely, which is genuinely more effective than a ductless/recirculating setup that filters and returns air to the room. If you're retrofitting into a kitchen with no existing duct run, factor that extra work into your installation plan rather than assuming the hood mounts and works the same way regardless of ducting.

Noise Is a Real, Published Spec — Use It

RAPSUAR's listings state real decibel figures rather than just "quiet operation": as low as 35 dB on the lowest of the 4 fan speeds, staying under 50 dB even at the highest speed (for comparison, that's quieter than a typical microwave running). If noise matters to you — an open kitchen next to a living room, for example — this is a real number to compare against other hoods, not just a marketing claim.
